The vote to renew or deny Comcast’s franchise agreement with the city was delayed again Tuesday as the Board of Supervisors elected to continue deliberations after their August recess. The motion to continue the items followed a closed session involving the Board and the City Attorney. They discussed potential litigation regarding Comcast’s past franchise performance. Information about the closed session was not divulged to the public.
Critics call attention to the cable company’s ineffectiveness in revamping the city’s cable system despite having ample time. They also charge that the current Comcast franchise, as well as the proposed extension, shortchanges workers and the public.
The Board will reconsider the franchise on September 13.
