Tommi Avicolli Mecca’s article titled “The New Commies” shows just how out of touch he is about the threat that Islamic radicals present to not only the United States but to civilization in general.
First, he blames the Bush Administration for the terrorist threat. I’m no fan of Bush or his policies but Mr. Mecca seems to have either forgotten his history or never learned history in the first place. The radical jihadists attacked us several times BEFORE George W. Bush ever came to office. The first attack on the World Trade Center took place in 1993. They bombed our embassies in Africa in 1998. They attacked the USS Cole in 2000, just months after the United States along with its NATO allies intervened in Kosovo to help stop the slaughter of the Bosnian Muslims. If Mr. Mecca had bothered to check his facts he would have realized that radical Islam declared war on us long before George W. Bush took office.
But perhaps more amazing is that gay men like Mr. Mecca would be among the first to be put to death if Al Qaeda, Hezbollah and the President of Iran had their way. Their hatred of gays & feminists are common knowledge. Mr. Mecca needs to wise up and stop living in an ideological bubble.

Dear Editor,
Regarding the article about the Milk Club no endorsement in District 8 – I received that letter as well, and I definitely voted no endorsement. I don’t think the letter had anything to do with the vote, but the common sense of the members who voted did. Rosenthal is a suddenly “new” progressive whom I never saw at any progressive function until she started running for office. Now she’s at everything she can be. My question is “Where has she been until now?” This is not a progeressive in my book, and I hope the people are not fooled. While Dufty is no priZe, Rosenthal is not the answer.
