Zatoichi On The Road and Kill!, will be shown tonight, and tommrow night at the Balboa Theatre in San Francisco. “Kill!, a non-gratuitously violent period piece was originally released in Japan as Kiru. Tatsuya Nakadai plays an ex-Samurai, forced to come out of retirement. His nemesis is a former ally, who has become a despotic overseer. Along the way, the old Samurai teaches his young protégé (Etushi Takahashi) a wealth of valuable life lessons. Director Kihachi Okamoto co-adapted his screenplay for Kill from a story by Shugoro Yamamoto.” ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide. Kill!, Okamoto’s dizzyingly fast paced mixture of black comedy, action, and social commentary, will be introduced by legendary musician Henry Kaiser, at the 7:00 show, and will discuss his friendship with Zatoichi star Shintaro Katsu and director Kihachi Okamoto.
