Subject: Response to “The New Rent Control Wars”

Dear Mr. Shaw,

Thank you for the article “The New Rent Control Wars”. I believe this is a very serious topic that isn’t getting the media coverage it desperately needs. I have lived in Mountain View, California for most of my life, 25 years to be exact, and I have watched this city transform in many positive ways over the years. With the establishment of Google has come an influx of techies and tech companies creating higher rents and lots of traffic.  Sadly, these rent increases are forcing people out of their homes in vast numbers. Many people can’t afford to live in the vary city they work in. Extreme rent increases are happening overnight and many people I personally know have been forced out of their homes and onto the streets. This can’t go on! We need a voice for the working lower and middle classes that are already struggling to keep a roof over their heads. This rent war has just begun and I don’t see the battle being an easy one on either side. Please continue to keep this topic relevant, it’s a very serious issue.

Best regards,
Jessica Esparza
