To the Editor…

Yes to “all art is spiritual” in that we are all viewpoints of the divine and so our products express that viewpoint. More particularly, though, I think of my art as spiritual or spiritually-inspired when I consider my state of consciousness while I was creating it. There’s art that comes from a nuts and bolts competency level and art that flows from a source beyond my ego unimpeded through me onto the surface. The latter is rare. It has a distinctive quality. Even more important, my customers respond to it in a different way than they respond to my other pieces. That is to say, those who do respond, because unfortunately, spiritual art of this sort demands something of the viewer which many viewers are reluctant or incapable of investing. I’ve seen this over and over again art art shows.
