I try not to engage in finger pointing against BART management, or the transit workers unions. But in early July I watched a 4-day BART strike cripple business in the Bay Area, and hundreds of thousands of working people were affected. My commute, San Francisco to Berkeley, was doubled, making for an exhausting day as I spent up to five hours getting to and from work each day.The working people, the commuters, are the pawns in this nasty labor dispute. I applaud Governor Brown for stepping in to enact a “cooling off” period. In the meantime, let’s get the unions and management back to the negotiating table. We all have work to do.
