STAR POWER ON THE FAST TRACK/with Shirley Jones, Diane Schuur and Fierce Love

by Buzzin Lee Hartgrave on October 26, 2012

Shirley Jones is sheer pleasure to hear her sing the great standards of all time. You’ll get to hear again songs like “A Wonderful Guy” (South Pacific and “People Will Say We’re in Love.” Jones is a Grand star that has never stopped giving. Her talent and voice is still clear and strong. I just can’t say enough about the musical treat now at The Rrazz Room.

What we get her is the fantastic memorable lyrics from the Hollywood musical of yesterday. Her spectacular and thrilling voice is a marvelous as it was in “Oklahoma”. More treats of the evening were these delightful treasures: ‘If I Loved you” – and the audience did. Jones got a standing ovation. How does she look after all these years? Like a billion bucks is what I saw. My favorite was “Out of my Dreams.” Also you won’t want to miss the perky “Seventy Six Trombones.

RATING: FOUR GLASSES OF CHAMPAGNE!!!! (highest rating) –trademarked-

Diane Schuur – is also terrific!

When Diane sings – you are listening to the most gorgeous voice in the world. Schuur’s songs are very involved and emotional and she plays the piano like no else. Another of Schuur’s wonders is that she has really bad vision. How she manages to hit the right keys – is beyond belief. Here a few words from many of the songs: My Heart wrapped in Love” – “For You Are Mine at Last” – “He gives me the Love that I never got from You” – Love this lyric: “Why Can’t he be You?”

All of Schuur’s songs are just terrific. The brings heart breaking lyrics kinda choke you up. I also love this: – “He takes me to the place I used to go.” It was the most exciting musical moments that I have ever heard. Believe me – the evening is irresistibly moving.

This is an amazing compilation of the many lives of African American Gay Men. The title came from a line in a poem by Essex Hemphill. I’ve never seen such a fantastic, wonderful and hilarious comedy event.

Let’s say it’s just a Mega funny trip to Dolly Wood. But that’s not all. The performers are Smart, Wise and Funsical! Most of all, they can sing, they can dance and they sure as hell can ACT! The Wonderful and Charming Acting is by: Duane F. Boutte* – Thandiwe Tomas DeShazor – Brian Freeman and Rashad Pridgen. Directed by Brian Freeman.

No kidding – This I a real live Roller Coaster Ride. It’s Magical. HIGHEST RATING.
