Rising Rents and Mid-Market Development …

by on June 21, 2012

To the Editor:

Rental rate increases in Oakland and elsewhere have also risen as the 1/4 of those Americans who have lost a home in foreclosure look to rent. (It’s a supply demand kinda thing). July is also when the newest crop of UCSF students for the fall start looking for rentals; so don’t expect any decrease in rental prices anytime soon. As those students take Sunset and Richmond properties off the market, lower income SF working families and singles are squeezed into other zip codes.
