Obama & Latin American Politics; New 49ers Stadium …

by on April 23, 2012

To the Editor:

Too bad Hugo Chávez, President of Venezuela, couldn’t attend the summit in Colombia. He might have shook things up a bit. Chávez envisions a modern day “Bolivarian Revolution,” a Latin American political block with a socialist bent as an alternative to U.S. hegemony. Chávez has been generous with his foreign aid to Latin America and the Caribbean in an effort to blunt U.S.-backed economic policies in Latin America. Looks like his efforts are garnering support among the growing number of Latin America’s left-leaning governments.

To the Editor:

Loved the suggestion that the best option for a new 49ers home might be a public-private funded domed multipurpose stadium on site of the Hunters Point shipyard development. Wow, that would be fun!
