More on the MTA; Crosses on Public Land …

To the Editor:

Another note of interest about the MTA Board: Meetings are now held at 12 noon instead of 2pm, making it more difficult for the public to testify. In addition, testimony time has been lowered from 3 to 2 minutes. This seems like an effort of MTA to control public comments. When MTA was holding public meetings about the Transit Effectiveness Project, MUNI personnel chaired the small discussion groups. This allowed them to channel, filter, and regulate input which was then presented to the meetings as a whole. The above is symptomatic of the politics of MTA which are contrary to the public interest and service to the public itself.

To the Editor:

I agree completely with this viewpoint. Is there no atheist symbol on atheist soldiers’ graves? I also wonder about the origin of the red cross in the American Red Cross organization.
