To the Editor:

Awesome analogy between Brown-Whitman and Muhammad Ali – Foreman! Meg Whitman’s own money has turned against her, and she is slowly being buried alive by it.

To the Editor:

Last year, my wife and I visited New Orleans (before the BP oil spill). Many Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims were evacuated immediately after the storms and later many were relocated to other parts of Louisiana or to other states, including 160 to California. Prior to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the population of New Orleans was about 485,000 with about 67 percent black. A year later in 2006, the Black population had dropped to 58 percent while the White population jumped from 26 to 34 percent. It is unclear whether this new ratio of Blacks to Whites will continue into the future. Some are calling this the “whiting” of New Orleans. Almost five years later, the population of New Orleans is about 300,000, but 3 of the 4 Parishes have shrunk since Katrina/Rita. Perhaps, those who could not return are “climate refugees.” New Orleans is underfunded, undereducated, impoverished, with a small tax base and a dysfunctional infrastructure. Now it must deal with the aftermath of the BP oil spill.

To the Editor:

Believe it or not, Willie Brown is still the Mayor of San Francisco. He runs everything in the City. He has the invisible hand not just in San Francisco, but all over the State. We are held hostage by this man. Thank God Obama never put him in close proximity because he would have tried to extend his corruption nation wide too!

To the Editor:

I don’t believe Mayor Newsom suddenly cares about the Tenderlooin or our image, but he didn’t have much choice reporting the shooting as in the “Theater District” since it was all over the news that it was near Union Square.

To the Editor:

Excellent piece — I’m glad you took this on. The Comments on SFGate have bothered me for a long time. The savaging of unions and immigrants has been particularly hard to take — also the attacks on Ron Dellums, and Oakland in general. David Bacon told me recently that he thought there were networks of right-wingers that prompt out-of-area responses, triggered by certain words and issues.
