THE OAKLAND RAIDERS ARE LOOKING GOOD! I will go out on the limb and say, HAPPY DAYS are here again! Somewhere, AL DAVIS is smiling over QB TERRELL PRYOR’s prowess on the field – the daring, confident QB has energized the team and Raiders NATION! Davis’ motto “JUST WIN, BABY”!

Davis saw something in Pryor when he drafted the 24-year -old player months before he past at his Oakland home, October 8, 2011. There’d been some lean years for the Raiders, looks like Davis was right in selecting Pryor in the 3rd round of the 2011 supplemental draft on August 22, 2011. LAST pick Davis made in his tenure as owner of the Raiders.

This savvy kid can move! Quick thinking when he comes out of the pocket; and he can run; at times teammates don’t exactly know what to expect. Sunday, QB PHIL RIVERS and the San Diego Chargers, looking for a win, and Rivers a comeback, defeated!

Pryor got off to a fast start, a strong arm pass, within the first few seconds of the first quarter, Pryor threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Rod STREATER 7-0! The nation went wild – ME TOO! And before the quarter ended, another touchdown pass to Denarius Moore in back of the end zone! QB Rivers and Chargers stunned, scoreless in the first half.

Worried when Pryor suffered a concussion on the road in game against the Denver Broncos, sidelined the following week, under medical orders not allowed to suit up for the Washington Redskins game, torture to see the team lose behind backup QB Matt Flynn – GONE as of a few days ago! Sunday, BROTHER PRYOR was on his game; in essence saying, I’M BACK AND HERE TO STAY!

Rivers came of sound mind, after half time, but the final end, Raiders won 27-17 to a sellout crowd at the Coliseum. An unusual game time – 8:30 p.m. due to the success of the OAKLAND A’S in the ALDS play-off vs Detroit Tigers played at the Coliseum , thus forced the Raiders game to be pushed to late Sunday night . FIRST TIME in NFL history a game played that late – HEY, FANS seemed to like the time change – LET’S DO IT AGAIN! Nothing but a sporting night out!

Pryor has FIRED UP THE TEAM and fans – their play reminded me of some of the old Raiders games – exciting, raucous and WINNERS! Raiders now 2-3, this Sunday on the road to play The Kansas Chiefs – lead by former 49ers QB ALLEN SMITH. ANDY REID, former Philadelphia Eagles coach until fired last season, immediately hired by the Chiefs, has made a difference, for under his guidance, the team has made its best start since 2002, undefeated. Smith a good runner, is managing from the pocket! Chief 5-0. and making Smith look good .

Sunday Night Football – 49ERS on home turf, ROUT HOUSTON TEXANS 35-3! a WIN is a win! QB Matt Schaub didn’t play well at all – NO competition!

QB PEYTON MANNING and The Denver Broncos game, saw Manning come from behind, unrelenting in his drive in what ended up a SHOOT OUT against The DALLAS COWBOYS in their high tech stadium there in Arlington Texas. Sadly, broke the hearts of Cowboy fans! QB TONY ROMO devastated! Peyton was AWESOME – defeated Dallas 51-48!

PLAY-OFF FEVER! HEY, THE OAKLAND A’S are in the ALDS play-offs – two years straight – Maybe there WILL be a WORLD SERIES in Oakland!

In one of my spontaneous moods, drove over to Oakland midday last Wednesday – AH, the Eastern Span of the Bay bridge is sparkling – a sense of freedom from the old bridge and its enclosed lower deck! STILL occupying space next to the new span, soon to be destroyed for scrap metal sometime in the future – HURRY UP – distracts from the view! Headed to my FAV spot, PICAN Restaurant, Broadway near Grand Ave.
Central Oakland is expanding with new restaurants – now a popular destination area for folks who enjoy life – especially young techies with money!

Pican, a taste of Southern Cuisine, opened several years ago – the SUNDAY Brunch is marvelous! Check out some JAZZ when in the area; actually located not too far from the 19th Avenue BART station! New Jazz club – The Sounding Room, near the restaurant, on Broadway and 22nd.

MAYOR JEAN QUAN should be happy, despite LOW popularity VOTE from her constituents! Celebrate The Oakland A’s back to back Play-off games and RAIDERS ON THE RISE!
