It is with great sadness that we report that longtime Beyond Chron contributor Carl Finamore had a stroke and has begun e a long rehabilitation. The stroke occurred only two days after we published Carl’s powerful April 28 story,” SF College Faculty Strike for Justice.”  The stroke was caused by a rare condition called Arteriovenous Fistula.

A longtime labor activist  Finamore is Machinist Lodge 1781 delegate to the San Francisco Labor Council, AFL-CIO He began writing for Beyond Chron since 2009,  covering such stories as the 2009 AFL-CIO National Convention and the mass protests in Egypt in 2013.  Finamore wrote frequently about labor issues in the airline industry where he had special insight given his long work history in the International Association of Machinists, Local 1781.

All of Carl’s many stories can be found by typing his name into the Search box at the top of our site.

Updates on Carl’s condition have been posted on his Facebook page. Because I am not good at keeping connected to people on Facebook I was unaware of Carl’s health crisis until this weekend.

Carl Finamore is a man of great integrity and vision who has never sought plaudits for his work as a writer or activist. He will need our financial help in the weeks ahead and we will let our readers known when a crowdfunding site for his behalf is created.
