Thanks for covering this side of Plan Bay Area. In case you missed it, PBS just broadcast a story that should get more play. Government officials excuse for dense building is that it is green (?) and it is the engine for economic growth. According to this, the financial reality does not support their theory… A final analysis out of the Martin Prosperity Institute breaks the notion that population growth is synonymous with economic growth. It is not associated with employment growth, productivity growth, or wage growth. It is associated with higher rates of unemployment. We have got to get out of the notion in America that population growth equals economic growth. In some cases it does, but not very many.
