Thanks to Ed Wilkins for all he has done to improve the health and nutrition of San Francisco’s schoolkids. As a parent whose child started Aptos Middle School back when Pepsi and fries, sold by the Student Nutrition department, were standard lunch fare, I fully appreciate the transformation he brought to our cafeterias (even if some junk-food-loving kids may not). Ed has not only transformed the school food landscape in San Francisco but helped shift the culture nationwide — I well recall when the notion of banishing soda machines from schools drew sneers and calls of “food nazi” and “nanny state.” Thank you, Ed!Caroline GrannanVeteran SFUSD parent and longtime school food advocate
