To the Editor:
A much, much larger factor in student educational attainment is not money, but their motivation to learn.Students from communities, families, and peer friendships that value educational attainment do well.I remember when my children attended Sherman Elementary (Cow Hollow — SF), a high achievement public school. The inner city elementary schools got the new computers, tutors, bigger budgets, better student/teacher ratios and all that, but they had low achievement. The income levels of the parents at both schools probably wasn\’t too different. Rich parents in San Francisco send there kids to private schools. Did more inner school money make that much of a difference?
